Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
The opportunity
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Payroll Officer to join our dynamic HR team at our CBD office. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive expertise in all facets of payroll processing and be equipped to provide pivotal support across our HR functions, contributing to our dynamic organisational success.
Approximately 80% of the role is dedicated to payroll activities, with the remaining 20% supporting HR administration, reporting and system maintenance.
In this role, you will deliver seamless administrative support throughout every stage of the employee lifecycle, assist the HR team with a variety of administrative tasks, and oversee essential functions such as reporting, system operations, compliance, and audits. Additionally, you will be responsible for documenting HR policies and procedures meticulously, ensuring the accurate maintenance of employee records within our database.
To be successful in the role, the following is essential:
- Relevant qualifications in Payroll or similar (HR is desirable)
- Previous demonstrated experience in a payroll / administrative position
- Experience with SAP/and Definitiv Payroll systems is highly desirable
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong ability to prioritise competing deadlines
- Demonstrated initiative and meticulous attention to detail are essential qualities
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Ability to build effective relationships with team members and other key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
- Strong focus on delivering a high level of customer service
To be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work permanently in Australia.
Key Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Managing the end-to-end process of monthly payroll runs and additional pay runs when necessary
- Enter new & update existing employees onto payroll systems as per employment contracts
- Supporting the Finance Department in processing monthly HR-related accruals
- Managing departmental SAP systems including generating purchase orders, receipting, invoicing, and liaising with suppliers
- Preparing and distributing employee variation letters
- Overseeing and updating the Company’s Headcount Budget and Organisational Chart
- Preparing weekly and monthly financial reports
- Creating ad hoc financial data and related documentation such as cost analyses and reports as needed
- Performing database audits to verify accurate and consistent personnel data across all platforms including INX, SAP, Definitiv Payroll, Organisational Chart, and Headcount Budget
