Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Superintendent to safely oversee our on-site Electrical department, ensuring the reliable operation of assets to meet operational goals. The ideal candidate will implement a structured maintenance approach and promote continuous improvement within the electrical maintenance and engineering team.

This role operates on an 8 days on and 6 days off roster, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• An Electrical Engineering or Electrical Trade qualification
• Registered Electrical nominee 
• Registered Schedule 26 Appointed Person
• WA ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence 
• Certificate IV Investigation Training or similar
• Certificate IV Leadership & Management or Front Line Management (BSB42015)
• Proven experience in a senior leadership position leading a medium to large team within the mining or heavy industry
• Strong knowledge and experience in electrical maintenance and maintenance procedures in a fixed-plant environment
• Sound knowledge of maintenance management, strategy development and implementation
• Knowledge and experience in Process Control and Control Systems (advantageous) 
• National Police clearance

Key Duties (but not limited to) :-

• Maintain and improve electrical maintenance, engineering, and process control reliability  
• Manage budgets, forecasts, and vendor services to ensure scope, time, and cost compliance  
• Foster a strong safety culture focused on risk prevention and proactive behaviors  
• Lead team activities to enhance plant reliability and implement efficiency improvements  
• Identify bottlenecks, develop solutions, and improve safety and production  
• Oversee operation and technical management of 330kV & 132kV Transmission Lines, ensuring compliance with asset management, communication protocols, and relevant regulations  
• Prioritize work based on business needs, coordinating shutdowns and routine maintenance safely, on time, and to quality standards  
• Plan and communicate maintenance schedules; approve requests to ensure alignment with budgets  
• Drive change management initiatives and ensure Root Cause Analyses are conducted when needed
