The opportunity

We are seeking an Occupational Hygiene Technician to join our site-based Health, Safety & Emergency Management team. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop practical occupational hygiene capability across a complex mining and processing environment while supporting programs that protect the health and well-being of our workforce.

Reporting to the Occupational Hygienist / Health & Safety leadership team, you will support the identification, assessment, monitoring, and control of occupational health hazards across Karara operations.

This hands-on role involves field-based monitoring, sampling, data management, equipment maintenance, reporting, and engagement with operational personnel across a range of hygiene programs.

Working on a Full-time 8 days on and 6 days off roster, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• Diploma or tertiary qualification in Health, Science, Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Health, or related discipline
• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in an occupational hygiene or related technical role
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications and data management systems
• National Police Clearance
• Ability to obtain and maintain site medical and statutory requirements

To be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work permanently in Australia.

Key Duties (but not limited to) :- 

• Conduct occupational hygiene monitoring activities, including personal and area sampling
• Perform noise surveys, dust monitoring, DPM sampling, radiation monitoring, and ventilation assessments
• Maintain, calibrate, and manage occupational hygiene monitoring equipment and consumables
• Assist with investigations relating to hygiene exceedances, hazards, and non-conformances
• Support implementation and verification of control measures across operational areas
• Develop and deliver training and awareness programs to promote compliance with hygiene, noise, and radiation standards
• Provide safety leadership and support compliance activities as a senior member of the Health, Safety and Training team
• Support compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company requirements
