Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Junior Cost Controller to join our Perth office, supporting the Finance and Maintenance cost control functions.

In this role, you will assist with cost analysis to identify operational risks and opportunities, support Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes, contribute to end-of-month cost reporting, and assist with budget analysis and development. You will also manage daily tasks, with a particular focus on employee expense claim reviews and Corporate department cost control activities.

This role is Perth based working in our CBD office.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• A Tertiary qualification in Finance or other related field is desirable
• WA ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence
• High level of attention to detail
• Proven experience in a Cost Administration position or similar
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Expert user in the application of an ERP system
• Previous experience in a mining, oil & gas or other heavy industry would be favoured
• National Police Clearance
• Bi-lingual (Chinese & English) is highly desirable

Key responsibilities include:

• Support the Principal Cost Controller with contractor cost analysis and reporting
• Raise and process purchase requisitions in SAP
• Verify invoices against labour requests, contract terms, and FIFO records
• Receipt invoices in SAP to ensure timely vendor payments
• Reconcile vendor timesheets and upload labour costs for month-end reporting
• Maintain and update the vendor register and YTD expenditure records
• Respond to vendor enquiries relating to invoices and purchase orders
• Provide administrative support to the Principal Cost Controller and Maintenance team
• Complete additional administrative tasks as required
