The opportunity

We have excellent site-based opportunities for Mechanical Engineers to join our engineering maintenance teams, supporting milling, filtration, crushing, and operational optimisation on an 8 days on and 6 days off roster.

In this role, you will play a vital part in enhancing the performance of the magnetite processing plant. Working closely with maintenance teams, you will help ensure equipment reliability aligns with operational targets across cost, production, and safety.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• Minimum 3 years’ mining experience in mechanical engineering within a processing plant environment
• A recognised Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering
• WA "C" Class manual driver’s licence
• Demonstrated success in applying engineering principles and statistical data analysis and implementing processes
• Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis RCA and 5 Whys work process methods and tools
• Computer literacy with proficiency in CMMS Maintenance Systems preferably SAP and the MS Office suite
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
• National Police Clearance

To be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work permanently in Australia.

Key Duties (but not limited to):

• Support the business by diagnosing and resolving mechanical engineering issues in operational equipment
• Carry out mechanical design and project activities, ensuring all components meet Australian standards
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to the maintenance team across all areas of mechanical engineering
• Oversee and assess team deliverables to ensure adherence to engineering and regulatory requirements
• Drive engineers and contractors to effectively address production and equipment challenges through practical solutions
• Serve as the key liaison with other Karara departments and external partners to ensure clear communication
• Perform routine inspections to proactively detect and address potential issues
