Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity

We are currently seeking knowledgeable Spare Parts Engineers to join our site-based Material Management team. This role ensures timely availability of the correct parts to reduce downtime, improve operational efficiency, and support maintenance strategies, while enhancing plant equipment reliability and performance in a cost-effective manner and in compliance with company standards. 

This role operates on an 8 days on, and 6 days off continuous day shift roster.

To be successful in this role the following is essential:

• Degree qualification or equivalent experience in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
• Experience within an Electrical field will be valuable 
• WA "C" Class driver's licence
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in parts management or supply chain within a maintenance or industrial environment
• Strong technical knowledge of spare parts and their role in equipment maintenance and reliability
• Proficiency in CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and inventory management software
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to forecast and plan spare parts needs
• Strong communication and negotiation skills for dealing with suppliers and internal teams
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
• A current National Police clearance

Key Duties – as directed by the Senior Parts Engineer includes:

• Manage sourcing, selection, and procurement of spare parts to support maintenance and minimise downtime
• Optimise inventory levels through forecasting to balance availability and cost
• Provide technical guidance on spare parts, replacements, and alternatives to ensure reliability and compatibility
• Coordinate with suppliers to secure timely delivery, competitive pricing, and favorable terms
• Control spare parts costs in line with budget and operational requirements
• Support root cause analysis by identifying recurring part failures and process improvements
• Maintain accurate inventory, usage, and supplier data using CMMS or inventory systems
• Drive continuous improvement in parts management, procurement, and inventory practices
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and procurement teams to align parts strategy with operational needs

Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
