Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Advisor to provide operational HR alignment tailored to the needs of our business. This role involves close collaboration with management and leadership teams to deliver high-level HR consultancy, coaching, and advice on a range of complex people matters. The successful candidate will drive the effective implementation of fit-for-purpose HR initiatives that support the goals of the project.

This position is site based and operates on a 5 days on 2 days off / 4 days on 3 days roster flying out from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or similar.
• Adequate experience in a senior HR business partner/ generalist role.
• Solid understanding of the relevant employment instrument and legislation, sound judgement and high-level ability to interpret and analyse HR policies.
• Strong ability to initiate, build and maintain strong and effective relationships and partnerships with all levels of stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to details and time management skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work with cross-functional working teams.
• National Police clearance.

Key Duties include (but are not limited to):

• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders as a business partner to lead the design and execution of organisational initiatives to ensure successful implementation.
• Conducting HR investigations, ensuring compliance with company policies and employment regulations while maintaining confidentiality and fairness throughout the process.
• Supporting workers' compensation claims for non-work-related injuries, including liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective case management and return-to-work processes.
• Set and implement fit for purpose HR projects on site to meet business area’s HR need, to better achieve operational goals.
• Provide advice to Site and Port leaders to support effective workplace relationships and increase the effectiveness in managing people related matters.
• Responsible for the management of performance related HR matters, assist management in effective management of teams, provide guidance and advice.
• Ensure adherence to company HR policies and procedures at operational level.
• Build effective relationships with leaders and other key stakeholders

About Karara Mining

Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
