The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Assets & Projects team. You will be responsible for providing technical support and site supervision to the Capital Projects team. You will undertake the project management of electrical, instrumentation and control system engineering and design in a multi-discipline project team.
To be successful in the role, the following is essential:
- BSc. Degree in Electrical engineering.
- Relevant safety training and certificates of competency.
- Strong experience and background in the engineering and design of Electrical, Instrumentation & Control (E&IC) systems.
- Experience working with multi-discipline engineering and project teams in a mining environment.
- Significant experience developing scopes of work and specifications for equipment supply and construction packages.
- Experience in project control and project QA/QC in mining industry.
- Solid background in construction strategies within the mining and mineral processing industry.
- Excellent planning, time management and organisational skills.
Key Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Ensure projects comply with statutory and regulatory requirements, company policies and conditions set out in the project execution plan.
- Engineering and design management experience in Electrical, Instrumentation & Control (E&IC) systems.
- Develop project Electrical, Instrumentation and Control deliverables including Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, Loop Diagrams, Lists and Calculations.
- Develop scopes of work and specifications for equipment supply and construction packages.
- Ensure budget, cost control and schedule targets are met.
- Coordinate, plan and schedule the ongoing construction and commissioning.
- Provide on-site construction and commissioning supervision and technical support.
- Assist other members of the Capital Projects department.
- Ensure the stakeholders have correct and updated information to best perform their functions.
- Actively seek opportunities to improve Electrical, Instrumentation and Control system design with a focus on the improved use of equipment and installation methodology.
- Identify and communicate to appropriate personnel any issues or incidents during each phase of project development and execution.
- Provide direction, mentoring and coaching of team members.
- Maintain effective communication lines with relevant internal and external stakeholders, ensuring they remain informed and engaged.
- Manage various capital projects application and reporting tasks to meet the KML capital project management requirement.
About Karara Mining
Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
