Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
The opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manager Human Resources Operations, who plays a key role within the Leadership team and to promote corporate values and shaping a positive culture, drive engagement and commitment.
You will oversee Karara’s human resources operations functions, ensuring all people related matters are handled in a fair and equitable manner according to relevant legislation and internal policies and procedures.
This role is Perth based working in our CBD office.
To be successful in the role, the following is essential:
- A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related field
- A strong understanding of HR/ER requirements, talent acquisition, payroll, remuneration & benefits, Fair Work regulations, and principles
- Ability to effectively manage projects and possess strong report writing ability
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to listen, consult, negotiate, and manage relationships with a range of stakeholders
- National Police clearance issued (< 6 months)
- Bi-lingual (Chinese & English) is desirable but not essential

Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure the delivery of strategic and operational advice and services to all leaders and employees and that advice is consistent with policy and legislation
- Coach and support managers to meet their leadership accountabilities and build their capability
- Manage and develop the HR team which comprises of Corporate & Site HR, payroll & recruitment
- Implement HR reporting and metrics and escalate emerging HR issues and themes with a focus on using data to drive problem solving and decision making
- Continuously identify and promote value-adding ideas and strategies that support the overall improvement of the HR function
- Drive continuous improvement, strengthening and maintaining internal and external relationships and provide regular feedback to the HR management team
- Act as a trusted advisor and partner to leaders, providing advice, guidance and support on all HR matters, including employee relations and performance management
- Ensure adherence to KML HR policies and procedures at operational level
- Assist in the development and executions of the HR Strategies
- Manage the implementation of human resources programs and policies
- Identify human resources risks and appropriate interventions
About Karara Mining
Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
