Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Project Delivery Superintendent to join our Assets and Projects team on site, this role is responsible for managing all assigned capital projects and miscellaneous operation improvement projects by planning, controlling and leading the execution of project activities, including following and adhering to company standards and approved system.

To be successful in this role, applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong capability of stakeholder and contractor management, with a proven project delivery track record. Experience of mining brownfield projects, SMP and bulk earthwork projects is highly desired.

This position is site-based operating on an 8 days on 6 days off roster, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• An Engineering Degree (Mechanical background preferred) and/or significant demonstrated experience in project delivery
• WA C Class Drivers Licence
• A strong background in Project Management with a demonstrated capability in project planning and execution
• Significant experience in the mining, processing or associated industries
• Demonstrated ability to work with multiple discipline projects
• Solid decision-making ability and leadership skills with excellent time management and organisation skills
• National Police clearance

Key Duties - (but not limited to):

• Manage the projects team to ensure all assigned project works are effectively delivered

• Identify, evaluate and implement improvement initiatives to improve project delivery quality in line with industry best practice
• Liaise with KML operation departments and HSE department stakeholders to ensure project execution are in line with business objectives and in compliance with company policies and procedures
• Plan, develop and optimise project implementation plan, project schedule, cost estimate and other relevant reports and use management tools to control schedule, quality and cost for all assigned projects
• Ensure that technical assurance activities/requirements are completed, fit for purpose and aligned with company’s requirements and standards
• Track project progress and exploit critical path of the project to meet the project timelines
• Implement quality control programs aligned to ISO certified quality assurance system to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards

About Karara Mining

Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
