Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Business Partner Human Resources (HR) to join our team on site, working on a 5:2/4:3 roster from Perth. You will be responsible for day to day generalist HR support across the KML Site and Port Operations with ad-hoc visits to Geraldton. 

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or similar.
• Demonstrated site experience within the resource sector.
• Strong incident investigation experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good understanding of the Fair Work Act.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Key Duties (but not limited to):

• Provide generalist HR advice and support to leader on site and port.
• Ensure adherence to KML’s HR policies and procedures.
• Deliver leader training / coaching.
• Analyse HR data and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Prepare and analyse monthly leave reports for distribution and discussion with leaders.
• Coordinate the exit interview process and provide regular analysis of information collated.
• Complete the HR approval steps within the online workflow system.
• Facilitate HR investigations and recommend appropriate actions for resolution.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes.

About Karara Mining

Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
