The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Tool Room Store Person to join the team on site working on an 8:6 roster. You will be responsible for issuing, recording, preparing and coordinating the maintenance department tool store.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

  • WA C or HR Class Drivers Licence.
  • Proven experience in a Tool Room or Trade Assistant position.
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical documents including OEM maintenance plans and equipment drawings.
  • Experience maintaining heavy tooling service reports and tooling registers.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) including SAP.
  • High Risk Work Licenses (HRWL) – Forklift (LF) and Basic Rigging (RB).

Key Duties:

  • Role-model safe work practices and positive safety leadership to others in your job.
  • Maintain the tool store database and registers to ensure tools and equipment are issued and returned correctly to give an understanding of where the tooling is at any given time.
  • Coordinate and arrange incoming and outgoing tools calibration and quality system inspections to retain tooling compliance at all times.
  • Manage the ordering of tools when they are required to be replaced.
  • Maintain the workshop oil and grease recycle collection.
  • Assist in developing shutdown work scopes with planning team ensuring the right tooling and equipment will be onsite and available.
  • Prepare reports to provide the written status of tooling to the Maintenance leaders.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance team to develop improvement strategies to provide reliability of equipment and cost savings.
  • Ensure the stock level of consumable items (i.e. rags, gas, PPE and oil) are stocked to an adequate level.
  • Perform equipment inspections and minor repairs of maintenance equipment and tooling. Any modifications or changes to the equipment must be immediately reported to the Supervisor Mechanical Maintenance.
  • When needed organise tooling and equipment requiring offsite repairs to be completed as per KML work management processes.

Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.
